1. How to Install Electrical Accessories - Overview of OEM Wiring.

1. Find controlled current for installing electrical accessories
It is important to use switched power when installing accessories. This prevents unwanted power consumption, preventing your battery from being drained unnecessarily by connected devices.
BMW has chosen to stick to a tried-and-true design. That's why you'll find the same accessory connector under the dashboard of the R1300GS. Want to connect additional daytime running lights (DRL) or a charger for your device? Then you can use our Switched Power Adapter for selected BMW motorcycles.

The accessory connector is located behind the dashboard. Switched 12V power is supplied through the red wire.
2. Access to Turn Signal, City Light and Brake Light circuits.
For installing additional lights or accessories on the BMW R1300GS it is important to access the appropriate electrical circuits:
On the BMW R1300GS it is easy to access the original turn signal wiring. This is useful if you:

With a signal from the turn signals, you can make a powerful DialDim function enable:
- Auxiliary lighting flashes along with the turn signals.
- Powerful driving lights dim automatically, so the turn signal does not fade away in bright light.
Location of turn signal connectors
The front direction blinker connectors are located under the upper fender, each on their own side of the engine.
To make them fully visible:
Remove the upper fender - this will already give you access to some of the connectors.
Optional: Remove the fuel tank cover to clear all connectors (not required, but helps with installation).

3. Access to the Rear Direction Indicator, City Light and Brake Light Connectors.
Under the rear seat (pillion) of the BMW R1300GS you will find the connectors for the rear turn signals. A new feature on the R1300GS is the integrated turn signal/city light/brake light. This makes the earlier 2-pin connectors replaced by 4-pin connectors
